Severe, persistent pain
Pain that does not respond to over-the-counter painkillers.

Swelling
Of the face, jaw, or gum — particularly if you have a temperature.

Trauma
Knocked-out, broken, or displaced teeth following an injury.

Uncontrolled bleeding
Bleeding that has not stopped following a procedure.
Out of hours
Outside our opening hours (Mon–Fri, 09:00 – 17:30), please attend your nearest hospital Emergency Department if symptoms are severe — University Hospital Galway is the closest 24-hour service.
Before you call
It helps if you can let us know:
- Where the pain is and roughly when it started.
- Whether there is any visible swelling or bleeding.
- Whether you are an existing patient of the practice.
